- Laurence (John) Fishburne III, born in Augusta, Georgia on July 30, 1961, widely acclaimed in Hollywood for his strong, authoritative characters.
- His parents were Hattie Bell (Crawford), a teacher, and Laurence John Fishburne, Jr., a juvenile corrections officer.
- Fishburne began his acting career at age 10 with a play called "In My Many Names and Days," and he didn't receive formal acting training.
- At 12, he secured a recurring role on the soap opera One Life to Live (1968). His film debut came with Cornbread, Earl, and Me (1975).
